Weddings on the Beach!

Wedding attire for a beach wedding can be "from suits to khakis" but a suit is still the most common choice, especially for the groom. Look for casual colors such as tan, taupe, light brown, and olive. We stock the smart looking tan suit, but we can also special order other colors. And seek out tropical-weight wool. This fabric looks and feels better in relaxed surfside settings. (Linen and cotton suits wrinkle badly, especially in humid climates, and are not ideal for weddings.)

The guests can try something a little more casual

If you're a guest and a suit seems too dressy, silk or lightweight wool slacks are a good choice. Cotton khakis may meet the dress code, but slacks are more elegant and generally more appropriate for a wedding, even a sandy one. Bring a casual sport coat to dress up the look. You can always leave it in the hotel room if it feels like too much.

While a shirt and tie are certainly an option (it is a wedding, after all), consider silk camp collar shirts or other refined sportswear tops to give the wedding a truly tropical feel.

Shoes: Putting your best foot forward

Footwear can range from dress sandals to leather dress shoes. Stick to more modern styles. Wingtips never look right when waves are crashing in the background.

And if it's your beach-side wedding, please remember that wedding guests will appreciate specifics about the dress code for your waterfront nuptials. They're likely to be about as confused about what to wear as you first were.
